Faarcyde Coaching Frequently Asked Questions

What are your credentials?

I have been playing full ring and six max sit and goes for about two years, one professionally. In that time, I have achieved top end ROIs at each level. Search my nickname “faarcyde” on Sharkscope to get a better idea of my results. I have coached over 50 students and believe I have developed a keen awareness of what makes a great player. I am also an instructor at Cardrunners and Stoxpoker. Below are my lifetime results as of January 2010.

What are your rates?

It is an hourly charge that depends on the stakes you play. There are also some other variables, such as if you buy a package deal or if I play with you on a regular basis at Full Tilt. Refer to the chart below to get a general idea of what you will be looking at. These rates are not set and stone and liable to change.

Low stakes ($1 to $15) - $100
Medium stakes ($20 to $40) - $125
High stakes ($60 and up) - $150

For payment, Full Tilt or Stars transfers are preferred. Paypal can be considered in certain circumstances. I request that the coaching fee be transferred an hour before our schedule session begins. There will be more on that later.

How does the average session work?

I have found the best strategy for plugging the leaks in your game is for you to assemble individual hands for us to go over in a hand replayer. Special points of focus will be discussions of varying strategies based on early, middle and late game levels. We will talk about ICM considerations of each hand and break down each hand, street by street. In addition to all of this we will also discuss broader concepts such as bankroll management, tilt control and second-level thinking. Other style sessions can be live sweats of me watching you play or vice versa and perhaps the most popular, simple hand history reviews. I prefer the individual hand history review because it is by far the most time efficient and allows us to sink our teeth into the big hands immediately.

How can I assemble individual hands for review?

The easiest way to assemble a series of hands is to copy and paste the raw hand history text into a new notepad file (right click desktop + new notepad file). A good way to collect important hands is by using the "marked hands" feature in Hold Em Manager. To use it, go HUD options in the main menu, click player preferences and then go to the "appearance" tab. Select number of pots shown to 1. This will show up on your HUD somewhere. When a hand occurs it will show the player who won it and how much the pot was. Click on it and it will bring up the hand in another window. Click the checkbox. After your session is over, go to the tourney tab and then in the sub tabs click "hands". Check the "Show marked hands only" box and you will be able to see all the hands you wanted to look at later. Right click the hand you want, hit "copy selected hand to clipboard" and then paste it into the aforementioned notepad file. Phew! It's easier than it sounds.

What software / hardware will I need for each session?

We will use Teamviewer 5 (www.teamviewer.com/download) and Skype (www.skype.com) to communicate. Please have these downloaded before the start of our session (both are free). It is also imperative you have some sort of ICM calculator (SNG Wizard and SNG Power Tools are the two most popular). We will use this tool to evaluate hands and is a must have for any serious SNG player. See below for links.
